Writing Need Not Be a Solitary or Frustrating Process
I have taught writing within the SUNY (State University of New York) system for more than a decade, working primarily with first-year college students who are adapting to a new social, emotional, and academic context.
Students have consistently described me as approachable and caring; many have said they’ve never had anyone talk with them to shape their writing in the same way. I am pleased to offer one-to-one tutoring and coaching sessions to support students with:
- Generating, developing and organizing initial ideas
- Drafting and revising
- Close reading and reading critically
- Embracing and expressing one’s writing voice
- Taking risks with style and structure
- Building confidence as writers
Please reach out via the contact form to schedule a conversation about developing and revising college application essays and assignments for English, literature, creative writing, social studies, and other humanities courses. I am also happy to help with cover letters and professional materials.

Below are a few comments from recent student evaluations.
“I remember dreading college writing my first semester at Purchase College. I didn’t think it would be possible to enjoy it. Professor Wright made it my favorite class. Every assignment she gave was focused on something extremely interesting. She let us write based on what we were passionate about, which made the writing enjoyable. The feedback she gave was always extremely helpful and encouraging.” — Purchase College student, Spring 2021
